As discussed in an earlier post using an underwater camera to fish horizontally, ice fishing cameras can be a great tool to understand the fishing world below the ice. However, certain species are known to shy away from cameras at the level that camera is at.  The walleye is a great example of this.

To combat this, yet still use our cameras to help us on the ice simply change the way you are using the camera.  Rather than the standard horizontal position, tilt your camera so that it is pointing straight down.  This still allows the use of the camera, but puts the camera at a level above the fish that is much less likely to spook it.  Most models have a clip of some sort on the back of the camera fin that will allow for the camera cord to be attached and have the camera mounted vertically.  If not, it is a simple addition of a clip placed in a small hole on the back.
